Acai berries are considered a ‘super-fruit’ and grow in the Amazon region where they are a dietary staple. Thanks to very high antioxidant content, the açaí berry has many health benefits. The berry is loaded with powerful plant compounds that are rich in natural phenolics and healthy fats. We have found a way to extract an oil, from the acai berry, similar to olive oil, that allows you to maximize the health benefits of every meal. The benefits can include reducing cholesterol and therefore the risk of heart disease. The açai berry oil is full of unsaturated fatty acids providing Omega 6 and 9.
While the oil is rich in antioxidants, it does not use any genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), contains no allergens, plus it’s vegan! Açai oil is produced by cold pressing açai pulp, similar to the production of olive oil. Its excellent nutritional characteristics are responsible for its anti-atherogenic activity (ability to reduce the formation of artery-clogging plaques) and can help decrease total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol), thus preventing cardiovascular disease. The composition of açai oil is predominantly unsaturated fatty acids, more specifically Omega 9 monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid). In addition, acai oil also has a large number of tocopherols (vitamin E), a very important antioxidant that slows the cellular damage caused by aging. Acai oil has a naturally reddish color derived from the deep purple color of its berries, like other ‘super-foods’. The acai oil can be used in food preparation or even added on top of meals for added flavor.
